Illiana Expressway passes House 89-6
The Indiana House passed Illiana Expressway legislation 89-6 last week allowing the roadway to be built as a public-private partnership. The legislation approves construction of the Illiana Expressway from I-65 in southern Lake County, Indiana to Illinois 55 in Illinois.
Two Northwest Indiana legislators voted “NO” on the Illiana Expressway legislation – State Rep. Shelli VanDenburgh, D-Crown Point, and state Rep. Don Lehe, R-Brookston — reports the Post-Tribune.
The Indiana House approved version the Illiana Expressway legislation (SB 382) will now go before the Indiana Senate for approval.

Very interesting that Lehe and Vandenburgh voted no, keep an eye on those votes going into primaries and elections this year.

Hi Steve,
The unions may send their voters out in force to send a message.
It would be interesting to see how many votes for Rep. Lehe come from Lake County vs the rest of his district that stretches down I-65 to Brookston. One would have to take into consideration to GOP voters in Lake County who might be opposed — the Lake County GOP speakers (Joe Hero and Eric Krieg) were opposed to the Illiana Expressway project when they gave public comments at the hearing held in Crown Point recently.
