Optimist turns pessimistic over Illiana Expressway

Optimism turns to pessimism over Northwest Indiana ever realizing the benefits that could be accrued if the Illiana Expressway was built.  The Post-Tribune’s Rich James despairs that local leaders will pass up the opportunity to build the Illiana Expressway, despite the fact that our local congressman has the ability to get money and Indiana’s governor is in favor of the project.

I’ve got this gut feeling that the Illiana Expressway — at a minimum, linking Interstate 65 and Illinois 394 — never will be built.
