When Mosquitoes Attack!

Mosquito
Recent heavy rains combined with flood waters have produced a bumper crop of mosquitoes that have been flying in formation every evening at dusk when they aren't latched onto people drinking blood and doing whatever else it is that mosquitoes do. Some storm water mosquitoes could have come from nearby Cook County, Illinois, said a medical entomologist for the Indiana Department of Health.

Northwest Indiana cities have been out in force also -- spraying chemicals to beat back the invasion and to keep citizens and horses safe from the killer West Nile virus. I've seen the mosquito abatement truck driving up and down the roads fighting the good fight against the winged menace.

Not wanting to miss out, mother nature has also come out with reinforcements for the allies -- spiders have been spinning webs overtime on anything and everything in the hopes of cashing in on the Mosquito Rush of 2007. I'm also sure some of those "birds" flying around at dusk are actually friendly bats allied in the war against mosquitoes.
