Carly’s got a big voice, but there’s something about her that makes me wonder if she can really be the American Idol.  Maybe it’s the big Amy Winehouse style arm tattoo that distracts me from her singing.

Randy:  “Very interesting song choice.  I didn’t love it.”  “I think it wasn’t the right song for you. … It was just okay.”

Paula:  “You could take every song that I’m not crazy about and make me buy it.”

Simon: “Something didn’t quite work.”  Simon didn’t enjoy Carly’s performance because she was too uptight.

Alaina Whitaker is the youngest contestant, says Ryan Seacrest. She has a birthday tomorrow and says she wants a nice gift — keep her in Hollywood. Alaina says she wants to go out with a lot of energy.

“It was so worth it,” Alaina Whitaker says about trying out for American Idol. She has a new catch phrase “Shoot.” All of her friends are saying it.

Randy says: “Season Seven is turning out to be the year of the young ones.” It was going on, Randy says.

Paula says: “It’s such a feel good song.” “You nailed it.”

Simon says: “I think you’re very good.” “I hated the song, by the way.”
