Thought television advertising was out of the reach of small business owners?

Think again.

Google is offering television advertising through its Adwords program — some of the ad rates seem relatively inexpensive.

Need to advertise electronics? Spend $150 and you’ll get 820,000 impressions on 8 television networks, according to Google Adwords.  Not too bad.  There are many other demographics and categories available so that reaching a target audience is made easier.

If you don’t have an ad, Adwords even has a program where they’ll reimburse some of the cost of producing a television ad.

Simply log in to the Ad Creation Marketplace, select a specialist, and create an ad to use in your TV campaign. We’ll reimburse the cost of creating your ad through our Ad Creation Marketplace, up to $2,000. You’ll receive a credit in your Google TV Ads advertising account after it airs.

You’ll need to drop about $8,000 — Google is requiring a minimum $2,000 weekly ad buy with a four week commitment to run by June 30, 2008.

Pretty interesting stuff.

It shows that Google continues to be a huge factor in the advertising world.  And, while it is easy to burn through money using Google Adwords incorrectly, using it the right way could produce increased business and profits for those businesses using it.

I’ll have to keep an eye out to see if I notice any Google television ads in the coming months.

The Illinois Department of Transportation has some sexy new “Click It, Or Ticket” ads that are burning up the airways and getting people to talk.

They’re grabbing my attention.

Video: Sexy Illinois Click It, Or Ticket Ad

I always buckle up — I’ve been strapped into seat belts for as long as I can remember, so I don’t understand why people need to be reminded to strap in when driving or riding in a car.  But if we’re going to have to be reminded, the ads might as well feature some sexy women with sultry voices demanding that we do something. Maybe they’ll convince people who don’t understand basic physics to also strap on their seat belts.

Another Sexy Click It, Or Ticket Ad

Of course, someone might be upset that women are looking sexy, so let’s check in with Viva La Feminista to see what she has to say about the topic of sexy Click It, Or Ticket ads.

Why is the IL Dept of Transportion using sex to sell seat belts?

I ask because I recently caught their new PSAs for the “Click it or Ticket” campaign and they use two very attractive women to urge their men to use their seat belts. Two women…one white and one African-American with sultry voices and in cute outfits telling their men, “You know what I want…” Where is the Latina PSA?

En Espanol! Because us Latinas are never more sexy than when we’re seducing our hombres into wearing seat belts than when we’re speaking Spanish, eh? The problem is that not all of Latino men speak Spanish or at least would be watching Spanish language TV.

Feminista brings up the idea of Wonder Woman lassoing some guy so that he won’t forget the buckle up! Viva La Feminista — love the mental visuals.

Caliente Illinois Click It, Or Ticket Ad, En Espanol

Now, I’m just waiting for INDOT to come up with something creative and sexy to remind Hoosiers to buckle up.
