Local radio host Steve Walsh is combining social media and local public radio with an upcoming show to air live from a Merrillville coffee shop.

CheckIn with Steve Walsh is set to air Sept. 3 at noon from Spill the Beans in Merrillville with a live remote broadcast, according to his blog.

I’m looking forward to listening to the new program. It’s always a great thing to have locally produced radio programming, especially a show that promises to be a bridge between the old and new media.

I just learned about a project in Northwest Indiana designed to mix blogging and radio into a new creation with a region focus.

Vocalo (WBEW-FM 89.5 MHz) promises to bring something new to the Northwest Indiana radio market that is designed to attract a younger crowd.
