The Boston Herald says that Mitt Romney “squandered a quality brand” in his run for the Republican nomination to be the party’s candidate for president.

Even more than their occasional heterodoxies, however, McCain and Huckabee share that elusive character trait of authenticity. They may have tacked a few times on particular issues, but voters believe they are sincere in their convictions. So much of Romney’s shape-shifting campaign seemed insincere.

CNN.com has a “breaking news” headline suggesting that Mitt Romney is suspending his campaign. WLS-AM radio news also had a quick report saying Mitt Romney may be suspending his campaign, based on a Drudge Report news story.

Will this mean McCain – Huckabee 2008?
