JLT is Emily’s List Choice
Filed Under Dennie Oxley II, Jill Long Thompson | 2 Comments
Democratic candidate for Indiana governor Jill Long Thompson is Emily’s List’s pick for November 2008.
Don’t be fooled when all of the talk is about Jill Long Thompson’s Lt. Gov. pick Dennie Oxley II holding the opposite position this November. Sure, Dennie Oxley II holds conservative Democratic positions, but will he be able to resist the temptation of all of that cold hard cash that flows to those who recant their conservatism and join in with the hegemony that controls the Democratic party.
Many others, including Bill Clinton and Al Gore were unable to resist all of those riches that came when they dropped their “core beliefs” and fell in line with the Democratic Party’s worldview.

JLT Wants Gas Tax Cap & JLT-Schellinger Debate Is Set
Filed Under Election 2008, Indiana primary, Jill Long Thompson, Jim Schellinger | Comments Off
Jill Long Thompson’s proposal to cap gasoline taxes once gasoline prices hit a certain level is dominating the Hoosier media.
Niki Kelly of the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette writes about Jill Long Thompson’s gas tax cap proposal:
Jill Long Thompson would cap the amount of sales tax Hoosiers pay on gasoline purchases if elected governor, something that would save $100 million at current pump prices.
She unveiled her latest policy initiative Tuesday in her primary race against Democrat Jim Schellinger.
“We need something to help Hoosier families,” Thompson said. “Gasoline prices are continuing to go up at the pump. You may see a little bit of a reprieve for a period of time but generally that is followed by another increase that takes it to a new all-time high.”
According to the AAA daily fuel gauge report, the average price of unleaded gasoline in Indiana is currently $3.25 a gallon.
Under Thompson’s plan, she would place a trigger in state law that would automatically suspend the sales tax on the portion of sales price exceeding $2.75 a gallon.
The two Indiana Democratic gubernatorial — Jill Long Thompson and Jim Schellinger aspirants have also set a debate date — on tax day.
