Hillary Clinton’s visit to Indiana University might mean that Indiana taxpayers are left paying for the Democratic presidential candidate’s visit to Bloomington if she decides to stiff the state-run institution. Hillary Clinton still owes IU about $55,000, reports WTHR in Indianapolis.
Barack Obama also visited IU Bloomington, but he has already paid his bill.
Reports WTHR’s Richard Essex:
Indiana University says it may have to tap into reserve funds to cover a campaign visit by Hillary Clinton.
The New York senator and Democratic presidential candidate owes IU $55,000 from a stop at Assembly Hall. Her opponent, Senator Barack Obama, held a similar rally there, but his campaign paid up their nearly $100,000 bill.

Vote Online For IU Trustee
Filed Under Indiana University | 5 Comments
Calling all Indiana University alumni — it doesn’t matter what degree, year you graduated, or campus you attended — you can vote online in this year’s Board of Trustees election.
Veritas Rex points out that there is a conservative choice in this year’s IU Board of Trustees election: Barnes & Thornburg attorney Kelly B. Smith.
Writes Kelly B. Smith in her IU Trustees election profile:
In the current economic climate, fiscal responsibility is of utmost importance. The cost of tuition is outpacing the rise of inflation, making it difficult if not impossible for middle income families to send their children to IU. Furthermore, the quality of instruction and research is not increasing proportionally along with the rise in tuition. The trustees need to take a more active role in examining IU’s finances, seeing that more money is spent on providing top professors in smaller classes.
