Indiana State Police in Northwest Indiana plan a DUI and speeding crackdown beginning this Friday.
The Times reports that District 13 State Police officers are joining a statewide DUI and traffic enforcement blitz funded by the feds that is planned to last until March 21.
Indiana State Police in South Bend have also been out in force pulling over drivers.

Reports the Times:
“We have saturation patrols as well as a sobriety check point planned, ” said First Sgt. Terrence Weems, assistant commander of the Lowell post. “If you drive impaired in our district, you will go to jail. We believe that aggressive enforcement of driving while impaired and seat belt usage will help continue the downward trend in fatalities.”

The Indiana State Police are cracking down on speeders, drivers under the influence and people who fail to yield, reports WNDU.

The Indiana State Police have been operating swarm patrols in the South Bend area.
ABC 57 WBND reports about the increased Indiana State Police patrols:
Officers target high crash areas in the state and pull over drivers for speeding erratic driving and failure to yield. Police says those are some of the largest factors in fatal accidents.
I’d keep my eyes out for extra police activity in Northwest Indiana since it sounds like the effort is part of a state-wide plan designed to reduce Indiana’s fatal traffic accident statistics.
WNDU reports last year Indiana had the lowest number of fatal accidents since record keeping began in 1925.
