Want to be the nation’s hero?

Figure out a way that we can solve the high gasoline prices that have 9 in 10 Americans saying have caused them financial hardship.

E85 ethanol might be one solution.

Hydrogen could be another once fueling stations are built.

Whatever we do, we need to do it quickly.

The airlines are already near financial ruin.  Our automobile manufacturers are suffering.  Our credit is crunched — and many cannot afford to fill up their cars without borrowing from their credit card.

Our economy is heading toward a 70s-style malaise with high energy prices and stagnant incomes.

What do you think will end up being the solution to our nation’s energy problems?

Could the answer be more domestic drilling, bio fuels such as E85 ethanol and bio diesel, hydrogen, hybrids and plug-ins, or some combination of the above?

Which will be the longest term solution to America’s energy crisis?

If you were elected president, what would you do once you were settled into office?

There are several E85 ethanol price tools available on the net.

E85 prices is listed first on Google, but it isn’t necessarily the best for people looking for E85 ethanol prices and fuel stations — especially in these days when E85 ethanol prices can vary greatly between stations and regions.

The best of the bunch is altfuelprices.com — it lists all of the major alternative fuels available on a Google-based map.  Another advantage is that AltFuelPrices.com lets people report prices without registering.  If you’re driving around and spot a station offering E85 ethanol, go ahead and report the price so that you can help out your fellow motorists.

I wish GasBuddy and GaryGasPrices.com took E85 ethanol price reports since it would open E85 ethanol price reporting to a wider audience.  Maybe one of these days, those services will add the option for alternative fuel price reporting.

The Federal Government doesn’t know how much E85 it is using in its flex-fuel vehicles, reports the Federal Times. Government credit cards don’t always properly record E85 purchases.

“We can’t tell for the bulk of these vehicles which fuels we’re purchasing,” said Marc McConahy, owner of Vista Consultants, who studied the problem for two years for the Energy Department.

City officials in Hobart are supporting a plan by Lake County, Indiana solid waste officials to build a trash-to-ethanol conversion plant in the county, reports the Northwest Indiana Times.

City officials plan to draft a non-binding letter in support of the idea of the trash-to-ethanol plant.

City officials have agreed to draft a letter supporting efforts by the Lake County Solid Waste Management District to turn garbage into ethanol.

The council’s agreement Wednesday to go forward with a letter of support followed a presentation at a meeting two weeks ago by district manager Jeff Langbehn.

Langbehn said the district’s board voted in March to draft a contract with Genahol-Powers 1 LLC and Indiana Ethanol Power LLC, both of Evansville, and Allied Waste, of Crown Point, to turn the county’s municipal garbage into biofuel and more traditional recyclable materials.

Meanwhile, county officials have delayed a vote on the proposed trash-to-cellulosic ethanol plant for up to two months to work out contract details, reports the Northwest Indiana Times.
