Griffith, Indiana wants to leave Calumet Township because it is a donor city.
Palatine, Illinois hopes to become a part of Lake County, Illinois.

Eric Zorn posts about how Cook County’s residents could break away — it would require a majority of resident signatures.
Of course, the easy way to break free from Cook County’s high taxes is to vote with your feet — Northwest Indiana isn’t too far away.

While it is easy to think of the 41,000+ workers who commute to Chicago and other parts of Illinois daily, it is even easier to forget that Lake County, Indiana is attracting Illinois workers.
