I watched the Democratic National Convention last night and saw Chelsea Clinton looking very nice while introducing her mother, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

I do have to admit that she has done a great job raising Chelsea Clinton. Chelsea Clinton has shown herself to be an attractive and intelligent young woman, even if her politics mirror her mother’s.

Maybe as Chelsea Clinton grows older and spends more and more time with her Wall Street friends — she worked (or maybe still works) for a hedge fund (and we all saw that CNBC report about how the hedge fund folks are all making $900 million a year) — she’ll move more to the center of the political spectrum. If that happens, look for Chelsea Clinton to become a political force, if she wants to be.

Chelsea Clinton plans a NWI visit to East Chicago

Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea Clinton, will visit East Chicago in an event with Mayor George Pabey as well as Terre Haute, Indianapolis, Evansville and New Albany, according to news various reports. Details are still in the works, according to the reports late Friday evening.

From the Northwest Indiana Times “Chelsea Clinton coming to EC“:

Clinton, the daughter of U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton, will join East Chicago Mayor George Pabey for an 11:30 a.m. appearance at the Association de Hijos de Borinquen, 3485 Michigan Ave.

Clinton’s campaign says Chelsea Clinton will be in Indiana Sunday through Tuesday. She plans to stop in East Chicago, Lawrenceburg, Terre Haute, West Lafayette, Evansville, New Albany and Indianapolis. Several events will take place on college campuses.

Chelsea Clinton’s on the campaign trail hoping to gather support for her mom.

Unfortunately, Hillary Clinton and her people won’t let her speak — even to a 9-year-old reporter hoping to get a quote.

Writes the AP’s Beth Fouhy:

“I’m sorry, I don’t talk to the press and that applies to you, unfortunately. Even though I think you’re cute,” Chelsea told the pint-sized journalist.

Such is the paradox of Chelsea as she campaigns across Iowa in the closing days before the state’s caucuses Jan. 3. …

(O)nstage, Chelsea never speaks; she stands next to her mother and applauds but utters not a single sentence and doesn’t even say hello. And reporters covering the campaign have been put on notice that Chelsea is not available to speak to them. An aide follows the former first daughter as she works the crowd, shushing reporters who approach her and try to ask any questions.

It’s too bad that Hillary Clinton is so controlling that she won’t even let Chelsea say “hello.”
