I Went To See Bill Clinton Today

Bill Clinton came to the Crown Point YMCA this afternoon and put on a good political rally for Hillary supporters and other curious onlookers enjoying the fact that Indiana is finally getting some attention from people who usually flyover the Hoosier state on their way to California or New York.
Video: Bill Clinton in Crown Point
Bill said that Hillary Clinton had put in some good words for Crown Point, so that was nice to hear.
I have to admit it was fun to hear and see Bill Clinton do his magic for the crowd. It brought back the good memories of when I was still an undergrad and was living a relatively carefree life.
When I was younger, I voted for Clinton when he first ran. I also helped make phone calls for the Monroe County Democratic Party back in the days before “bring your own phone” phone banks. I also wore an American Federation of Teachers for Bill Clinton pin along side of my UFCW Local 700 pin when I was working at the grocery store making $75 per week.
That was before I had kids, bought a house, and started paying serious taxes. Now my wife and I pay out way more in taxes than I ever grossed back when I was making union wages of $3.75/hour at the grocery store.
There’s the old saying about when you’re young, you have no heart if you aren’t a Democrat …
Those were some good times down in Bloomington. Do they still have dime beer night in B-town?
Seeing Clinton up close and personally brought back some of the good memories of the 1990s back when I was in carefree 20s. Of course, I’m doing better now than I did back then, so I can’t complain.
I have some video of Bill Clinton’s visit that I’ll get uploaded sometime tomorrow. I hope I didn’t forget to turn on the sound on the camera I was using.

Indiana Feels Like New Hampshire & Iowa

Obama ate breakfast at the Sunrise Cafe in South Bend this morning.
People were lined up in bad weather this morning awaiting Barack Obama’s arrival at Gary, Indiana’s Roosevelt High School.
Hillary Clinton plans a trip to Valparaiso. Will she grab a bite to eat with Valpo well-wishers at a local restaurant when she stops in Northwest Indiana?
Bill Clinton is wandering around southern Indiana.
Indiana is starting to feel like New Hampshire and Iowa with all of the retail politics going on in the Hoosier state as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama battle for every Democratic vote they each can get in Indiana’s primary.
The battle and all of the campaign activity is enough to make Republicans want to switch over and vote for one of the two candidates this spring — despite threats by Democratic officials to try to block these voters from casting a ballot.
Look for Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama to start knocking on doors if the Democratic primary polls continue to show a statistical tie in the days running up to the Indiana primary on May 6.
