I read a recent article about this year’s American Idol 7 and it mentioned the thought that many Idol observers have had ever since the show narrowed down the contestants to the Top 24: David Archuleta will be the next American IdolDavid Archuleta consistently is predicted to be safe by Dial Idol.

However, having been one American Idol observer who has put my bets on several contestants who haven’t made it through the various cuts over the last couple of months — I was rooting for cuties Amy Davis, Asia’h Epperson, and Ramiele Malubay — it’s always safe to assume that we can’t always tell what will happen on American Idol.  If we knew right away who would win this year’s American Idol title, it wouldn’t be any fun to watch the show, would it?

Some are taking this position by placing their hopes on Carly Smithson — she hasn’t connected with me yet — while others are wishing on the stars for crowd pleaser David Cook and beautiful but real Brooke White.  I’d be happy with either David Cook or Brooke White winning.

Writes Ken Barnes in “American Idol’ picks finalists, and they’re a diverse dozen:

One school of Idol thought holds that we could skip the whole three-month ritual of the finals and just mail teen heartthrob David Archuleta the American Idol crown right now.

Another school says hold on now, Carly Smithson is the best female pop singer the show’s uncovered since Kelly Clarkson, so don’t count her out.

Who are your picks for this year’s American Idol?

I’ve been watching American Idol and while it’s fun to see all of the contestants who have survived the competition to make it into the Top 10, I’ve been missing Asia’h Epperson.

I had listed Asia’h Epperson in my Top Five list back when the American Idol competition started (along with four other AI hopefuls who have since been sent home).

It shows that sometimes it is hard to determine who will capture the attention of the American Idol audience, although it is pretty clear that David Archuleta and David Cook are contenders for the top prize this year.

It seems that I’m not alone in missing cutie Asia’h Epperson since her departure from the singing competition.

The Asia’h Epperson blog writes a post wishing that Ms. Asia’h was still singing songs for America every Tuesday evening.

This week’s edition of American Idol again illustrated well the reason why the judges might be right that this could be the season with the most talent, but it also shows why it could also be the most boring ever yet. When Asia’h Epperson was still around on the show, the bright and bubbly personality of the young part time waitress was enjoyable and certainly lovable, compared and in stark contrast to the almost boring personas from the other contestants.

UpdateAsia’h Epperson sang “God Bless America” during the seventh inning stretch during the Springfield Cardinal’s season opener.

Just got back from my son’s science fair, so I can fire up the American Idol live blog. It seems like I didn’t miss much because there have only been two eliminations tonight so far and it’s almost 7:40 p.m. Indiana’s own, Luke Menard leaves tonight. Of the women, Kady Malloy is going home.

On a side note — two of my favorites — Filipina cutie Ramiele Malubay and fellow Hoosier Amanda Overmyer make it through for another night on American Idol.

Asia’h Epperson and Kristy Lee Cook are on deck. Asia’h Epperson — someone I thought would be going further on American Idol — is going home tonight.

On the final elimination of the night, “spicy” Danny Noriega gets the American Idol boot and gets to sing Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love.” The YouTube video probably didn’t help, unlike the news about David Hernandez’s past-time. Ramiele Malubay breaks down crying at the news Danny Noriega is going home.

Asia’h Epperson talks her dad’s death and how it affected her during the American Idol auditions. She says that she knew her dad wanted her to push on.

Asia’h Epperson sings “Piece of My Heart.” (I love her performance).

Randy says: “I love it.” “You did your thing with it. I was impressed.”

Paula says: “You had fun up there. You had some good moments.”

Simon says: “It was my favorite of the night.” “It was what it’s all about.”

Everyone loves Asia’h Epperson — make sure to vote for her tonight, even if you vote for another Idol.
