After a long build up — the last three on the stage are Carly Smithson, Kristy Lee Cook, and Amanda Overmyer.
Carly Smithson is safe — not too rough of a guess based on the Dial Idol predictions.
Kristy Lee Cook is safe, Ryan Seacrest says.
Indiana’s Amanda Overmyer is going home tonight failing to make it into the American Idol 7 Top 10

Amanda Overmyer | Back in the USSR | American Idol 7

Amanda Overmyer sings the Beatles’ “Back in the USSR” because it has a blues element and she plans to put a southern rock spin on it.
Amanda Overmyer looks like she’s having fun singing in front of the crowd. She also looks better in black than she did in the zebra pants last week. The first position is rough, however, because callers who aren’t motivated to vote for Amanda Overmyer might vote for later American Idol contestants.
Randy — “This is the perfect song choice for you.” She started feeling the song toward the middle and did well at the end. 7 out of 10.
Paula — Timing was a little off. A little ahead of the beat. Amanda Overmyer is unique and is being who she is. Paula says she loves Amanda.
Simon — “It was predictable. It was a bit of a mess in parts. It is the same thing week after week.” Simon wants Amanda Overmyer to surprise everyone so she doesn’t become boring.

Amanda Overmyer | You Can’t Do That | American Idol 7

Mulberry, Indiana’s Amanda Overmyer talks about living out in the sticks. American Idol shows her riding her motorcycle.
Amanda Overmyer promises to “rock up” the Beatles’ “You Can’t Do That.”
I keep hoping that Amanda Overmyer is able to make it into the final stages of American Idol, but I also sense that she’s going to have problems because she only has one style — the Janis Joplin – style of singer.
The crowd enjoys Amanda Overmyer, so maybe she’ll get some love this week and it doesn’t hurt being in the 9th position because singing last always is an American Idol advantage.
Randy: “That is the true mark of a great song.” “You rocked it out” in a southern bar style.
Paula: “Amanda … you were fantastic. You were a star out there. I’m blown away.”
Simon: “I didn’t think it was as good this week as last week.” “It was like you were slurring all of the words. It’s a very good thing you are here … because you are like a breath of fresh air.”

Carly Smithson | Come Together | American Idol 7

Carly Smithson and Amanda Overmyer are roommates now that they’ve moved into the American Idol apartments.
Carly Smithson talks about moving to San Diego and how she love it — she’s originally from Ireland. She’s a bartender and waitress — as well as a singer. Carly promises to “change it up tonight” with her version of the Beatles’ “Come Together.”
I didn’t get it together with Carly Smithson’s version of the song, but I know the judges love her, so they’re going to give her some nice praise.
Randy: “That felt amazing didn’t it.” “You were strong and confident. Not a note out of tune. Stellar performance.”
Paula: “I felt like I was already watching a star. I couldn’t wait until you got into the Top 12 so you could really shine.”
Simon: “Week after week, so far, you’ve chosen the wrong song. Until now.” Carly Smithson’s performance reminds Simon of Kelly Clarkson.
