Local bloggers from Northwest Indiana met-up tonight at IT provider Golden Technologies in Valparaiso to get to know each other and to share some ideas of what they want to do in 2009.
It was nice to match up people with their blogs and to get the mind thinking of new blogging ideas. If I had been thinking, I should have made a list because I’m going to leave people off of any list I try to make from the top of my head, but the A-listers of the Northwest Indiana blogging scene were there in person or in spirit.
Luckily for everyone, a list was passed around, so I’m sure we’ll see a list sooner or later on one of prolific blogger Steve Dalton’s sites (he’s the author of Porter County Politics). If I try to make a list, I’m going to leave off someone, so I’ll supplement once I see a complete list. Also, feel free to leave a comment if you were there to say hi and to prompt me to add your blog to my feed reader since I’m bad at remembering names.
The meeting was a success because it brought together a great group of people. Keep your eyes open for some interesting developments in Northwest Indiana. Tonight was just a start, but often all it takes a small group of people to get together to make a difference in the things are done.
Special shout-outs to Dan of 390days.com and Dave Woodson of DaveWoodson.com.

Thanks for the shoutout and for attending last night Chris. I can’t believe we had never actually met.
I will be posting a list of the bloggers in attendance, and also the links to the “golden” link posts later today. I also have everyone’s emails and was thinking of a google group where we can have running conversations in private about links and projects. May try to set that up this afternoon and send out invites
For the next meeting I’m really hoping we can get the other 8-10 people that didn’t show up. So far, it’s still guys that I know pretty well online, but the next expansion will be some people that I barely know and may bring some great new ideas to the table too.
Keep the ideas coming

Hi Steve,
It’s always a good thing to match up people with their blogs. It’s also great to forge networks — electronic and existential — so that continued growth in blogging and other endeavors continues.
Thanks for setting up the NWI blogger meetup!
Hey, Chris was great to meet you last night, and to be able to put a couple faces with the blogs. Thanks to Golden Tech for hosting. I am not sure if they expected us to drink so much beer. They have a nice place there looks like a great company to work for.
Good things happening in NW Indiana and all around.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for stopping by. Golden Tech does look like a great place — I think it’s expected that tech companies always treat their employees right since it seems that techies are always working on their projects.
You’re right that great things are happening in NW Indiana. It’s good that bloggers were able to get together to get the ball rolling. I’m curious to see what happens as a result of the initial and subsequent meetings.
