The bar keeps going lower and lower
Did anyone else notice that Barack Obama’s tax plan has changed. The bar has moved from from $250,000 to $200,000? It was right in Barack Obama’s half-hour commercial last night.
Will it end up being lowered even more to take into account the need to pay for proposed programs?
While $200,000 is still an income most American households have yet to reach, it isn’t inconceivable that a family with a husband and wife working in construction or other highly paid union trades could make that amount, especially with a good year and some overtime.

I skipped watching the infomercial but did catch some clips later last nite, and you’re right all of a sudden the “wealthy” moniker has moved down to $200,000.
That may sound like a lot of money, but truthfully in most areas of the country it’s not all that much. A small business owner may see that kind of income once in a while, perhaps not every year, and how dare the government penalize them for a decent year. They create the jobs, they create the opportunity for the economy, and they take the risks that someone needs to take so we can grow again.
I have no doubt at this point that much of the stock market selloff was a direct result of these foolish tax ideas by Obama … and frankly McCain too. He should have walked away from big government ideas last spring and made an entire platform of innovation, entrepreneurs, and growth

I’ve been wondering about this for awhile. Hey maybe when he gets in office, he’ll decide that $40,000 a year is too rich. . . .

A friend of mine told me yesterday that he had seen an Obama supporter on one of the cable news shows mention $150,000. It slipped right by the interviewer. I guess, under his administration, we would live in the United States of Confusion, at least until he lowers it to the number he really intends it to be; so that the haves, have less and the have nots, have more. All people will be financially equal and we become the United States of Omerica.

Hi Steve, Dan and Dave,
US News and World Reports has a list of what it takes to be rich in America — the bar isn’t really that high to be in one of the top earning households in America. The range is from $126K in El Paso, Texas to $240K in New York City.
Be very careful when it comes to attacking the rich as there are many working class folks who make a good living in union jobs who — if they have a working spouse who is a nurse or a school teacher in certain districts — that could push there income into the upper reaches of American incomes.
The truly insanely wealthy folks will never pay as many taxes as the rest of us because they can structure their wealth and can move their companies and wealth overseas.
Regular people who have payroll withholding are the ones who will end up paying because they are the easiest to find.
