The hot news buzzing through the Hollywood gossip circles is the engagement of Jennifer Hudson to David Otunga after a quick six month romance.
Everyone knows Dreamgirls and Chicago’s own Jennifer Hudson who gained fame on American Idol that propelled her into superstardom.
The question people are asking themselves today is who is David Otunga.
Like Jennifer Hudson, David Otunga is a fellow reality television alumnus. David Otunga aka “Punk” from I Love New York 2 can claim that he was rejected by Tiffany Pollard aka New York.
The resume doesn’t end there, however, David Otunga is also an ex-attorney and a Harvard Law School graduate (2006). Not too bad.
Here’s wishing Jennifer Hudson and David Otunga all the best for happiness!

In Praise of Working Moms and All Women
Filed Under Sarah Palin | 5 Comments
After reading all of the comments and letters to the editor in the paper recently dealing with the “controversy” of the possibility of a working mother being elected as Vice President of the United States, I just wanted to let all of the working women who are moms, grandmothers and friends of parents know that I appreciate their hard work on behalf of their families and the sacrifices that they make daily for their kids.
People who question whether a woman can handle her professional and family life (especially with a husband who most likely will be a stay-at-home dad) are making hardworking moms everywhere cringe — regardless of their political philosophy.
I know that naysayers always abound, so you’ve learned to ignore their negativity years ago, so it’s probably not even necessary to say don’t let those who view women as best kept at home get you down.
Your business skills — in the office, or shop, or factory, or at your own business, or even at home — show that you know how to handle yourself, your career and your family without worrying about people who have little concept about women in the workplace.
Ignore the noise and remain confident and proud!

What the Flurge?
Filed Under Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin | 12 Comments
I tuned into SNL for a few minutes last night to what might happen since Barack Obama cancelled his guest host slot on the show in the wake of Hurricane Ike slamming into Texas yesterday. Any comedic appearance on television could have opened Barack Obama up to criticism, so he bailed in favor of some campaigning elsewhere.
All wasn’t lost. I learned a new word from “Hillary Clinton” last night — Flurge.

Amy Poehler’s Hillary Clinton implored people to stop calling her a Flurge:
“And don’t refer to me as a flurge. I Googled what it stands for and I do not like it.”
What is a Flurge?
I’m calling it as a made up word in the context of the show since Urban Dictionary’s Flurge definition is from 2002. Flurge is “a cross between flush and purge,” according to the site.
It’s too bad that the rest of the show wasn’t as entertaining as the opening skit. I couldn’t make it past the swim meet skit before flipping the television off and calling it an evening.

Saggy pants foil escape after wild Miami area police chase
Filed Under crime, police, police chase, urban peril | Leave a Comment
Captured and tasered after a wild car chase through Miami suburban streets!
That’s the headline after a wild police chase through the streets of Hialeah, Florida — a Miami suburb –endangered innocent citizens and responding police officers.
Why was the suspect — who remains innocent until proven guilty in a court of law — captured after expending so much effort to escape from law enforcement? Saggy pants prevented him from sprinting quickly across a busy Miami street after bailing out from his moving car.
Next time you’re running from the police after bailing from a moving car, make sure that you’ve fastened your belt. Otherwise, you’re going to feel the 50,000 volts of the taser gun. Better yet, don’t run from the police. They have radios and helicopters and they’re going to catch you sooner or later.

Note that the raw video tells the story fairly quickly, but isn’t the packaged new story aired on the Miami television more exciting with the addition of the high energy sound track? It almost makes the raw video of the police chase and subsequent tasering a little boring.
