Video: Kim Kardashian goes shopping
Kim Kardashian continues to get the attention of the paparazzi as she shops for clothes at Rumor.
Admit it, you’d rather watch Kim Kardashian go shopping that you would video of pundits arguing about energy policy.

The summertime traffic blues
Filed Under blogging, Kim Kardashian | 2 Comments
Kim Kardashian gets more attention than politics these days.
I was reading Dan’s post over at Prayeramedic about how he feels like people aren’t reading his blog.
I’ve had that feeling also and have wonder at times if it is worthwhile to spend the time and effort to write. When I feel that way, I know it’s necessary to persevere. Sometimes, the knowledge that traffic is fickle is enough to kick in the competitive spirit in an effort to win the hearts and minds of readers in these days of ever fragmented audiences.
But, when things seem to be at their bleakest, something will happen — there will be a spike in traffic.
Some post had the right keywords for search engine traffic. A news event occurred causing people to search for more information about a subject. When these things happen, it makes the work of writing a blog worthwhile.
Sometimes, it is just the realization that the “serious” posts aren’t the ones that are going to get the most attention — sometimes it’s something trivial or silly from the world of entertainment that continually draws the most traffic and attention to a blog. It’s just human nature. More people watch entertainment shows on television than they do cable news programs — unless there is a major breaking news story — and not just the routine “breaking news” that sometimes fills the hours that need to be filled on the 24 hours news wheels.
Lately, I’ve been burned out on politics.
I can’t really dig to deeply into anything that’s too inside the beltway whether it’s on the left or the right. Even a couple of months ago, I might have relished getting into a discussion about some burning political issue of the day, but I don’t know if it is the relaxed summertime vibe or something else has gotten me out of the mood for a grand political discussion.
I’ve cut back on my talk radio listening habits as well.
I’ve listened to Rush on and off since DXing WLS when I was in college in Bloomington (as well getting hooked on talk radio listening to Stacy Taylor and the always on-edge Bob Lassiter doing a radio show that reminded me of Eric Bogosian’s radio movie). Even as Rush was celebrating his 20 years of the Rush Limbaugh show, I could only listen to a few minutes here and there today. Maybe I need a break — maybe 20 years of listening to talk radio means it could be a time to “retire” from listening to talk radio for a while.
Or, it could be a more widespread vibe in the air. People are in an escapist mood. They’re looking for things to make them smile and forget about their problems — especially since the news of the day makes on think that we’re on the verge of a total economic collapse into another Great Depression — despite having employment numbers that are still close to full-employment and a good chance that we’re just in a business cycle that will see some new record highs in the markets that will propel us into another golden age like what we experienced after 1992 and 2000. Just think how far the market has risen since 1987.
The heavy political post isn’t going to bring in traffic numbers while the sun is shining and the weather is nice.
People are looking to have fun, get away from the heavy stuff before the fall sets in and the weather starts turning cold again.
People want to get away from the bad news.
They want some fun.
They want to learn something about themselves and how they relate to their fellow human. Sometimes do to that requires going out into the world and getting away from their computer screen.
Don’t worry.
School will soon start again and thousands of eyes will once again be paying attention to computer screens across the nation.
Days will grow shorter and people will move their activities once again indoors.
When this happens, traffic numbers will once again rise and people will seek out the offerings to be had in the blogosphere.
Until then, if you want to get some traffic, start writing some posts about Kim Kardashian and some other celebrity hotties — people never seem to get tired of looking a celebrity news when it involves good looking females who love wearing bikinis.
