I’m somewhat skeptical about E85.

While I like the fact that it helps Indiana’s and the US’ farmers by making corn a hot commodity, I worry that we aren’t working hard enough to produce a more efficient version of the fuel. I also worry that the price-to-MPG ratio doesn’t make sense at times when the E85-to-regular-gasoline ration is relatively close.

I’ve been filling up with E85 because I’ve found a station nearby that sells it for more than $1.10 cheaper than the price of regular gasoline. Using hypermiling techniques, I’ve been able to get very decent gas mileage, according to my MPG computer — comparable to when I was using regular gasoline and rushing like everyone else as fast as I could to the next stop light.

I’ll have to take a look at your site. I’m pretty open-minded since all of the alternative fuels are new and we’re still learning about them.

As you can tell, I do not. It sort of appears that you do, but perhaps if you learned more about it I could persuade you otherwise? Please feel free to visit my site and learn some more on how E85 is not the holy grail that it is being advertised as.

If production methods change, and sources changes as well (like waste, sewage, and other alternatives other than corn) I might be convinced otherwise. But as it currently stands, it appears to be nothing more than a scam forced upon us by government and lobbyist.
