Will there be a Ron Paul revolt in Indianapolis today?  Who will win the battle to be the GOP’s nominee for attorney general this fall?  Hoosier bloggers are about what’s happening at the GOP convention this afternoon.

Hoosier Access’ Mike Jezierski is keeping an eye on things at the state GOP convention in Indianapolis.  And, local Northwest Indiana bloggers Steve Dalton from Porter County Politics and Dan O’Day from Prayeramedic are also on the convention floor keeping an eye on the action.

Hoosier Access has had a lot of pro Greg Zoeller posts and Steve Dalton’s Porter County Politics has been in favor of Jon Costas — the blogosphere is providing balance in the marketplace for ideas.  Read both sides, get all the information you need, and make your decisions.  Isn’t it great that the blogosphere works without a requirement for a “fairness doctrine” or other limits on free speech.

While things have just gotten to a start in Indianapolis, here are two things that will make the Indiana Republican convention interesting:

1) The battle for the attorney general’s nomination being wage by Northwest Indiana’s own Jon Costas and downstate AG office deputy Greg Zoeller.  Should be interesting to see how things work out this afternoon.  Will geographic diversity win out, or will the downstate wing of the party get their guy on November’s ticket along with all of the other south of NWI candidates?  Zoeller is waging an experience campaign based on his prior service in the AG’s office.

2) Will the Ron Paul supporters try to take over the convention to the benefit of their candidate?  This is the real wild card.  The Paulistas are fervent.  And, there is some word on Hoosier Access that the agenda was made secret to prevent possible problems.  If the Paulistas cause problems, that will be the huge news coming from Indianapolis today.

Thanks to all of the bloggers out there keeping an eye on things in Indianapolis!

Thanks for the links and notice Chris.

Was a wild day, and I learned a ton.

The Paulistas were not able to do any more than complain. The rules committee basically took care of things by crossing t’s and dotting i’s.

Zoeller won fair and share, and probably had the votes from day one, once he got Steve Carter’s endorsement. Winning Lake County 51-30 was a bit of an embarrasment for Lake County Republicans. They are a mess and will probably need new leadership soon.

      Hi Steve,

Sounds like it was an exciting time. I’ve never been to a political convention. Did you go as a delegate or as a member of the blogging media?

Greg Zoeller will do a great job and it is good to have someone in the office who is already up to speed with all of the investigations that are going on in Northwest Indiana.

Jon Costas would have been a good AG as well. It’s always a good thing that the GOP was able to put forth a fine field of candidates for the position.

Chris, I went as a delegate from Porter County, sat in the third row with a terrific view of everything. I used my blackberry to take roughly a dozen photos and write emails to Dan. I then sent these every ten or fifteen minutes to him and he directly posted to Porter County Politics site for me.

I think that Aaron and Sloan did some posting as well from those notes that I was sending.

It made for a pretty fun afternoon for me, vote, listen, photograph, write and then repsond to comments. We had roughly 1,000 page views during the convention on the site, probably similar to the crazy traffic you were getting for American Idol (maybe you got even more?)

Not that many ad clicks and not as many comments as I hoped for though, still need to build the subscribers too so our site gets more consistent traffic and commenting.

Thanks for the notice and the comments as always.

      Hi Steve,

It’s always fun to get a lot of hits.

It shows that people are interested in the subject matter.

It just takes time. Once people learn you are out there, your blog will grow. Having a niche is always important — once people start thinking of your site as a “go to” place for info, it will take off.
