Why Do They Run From The Police?
Video from various police chases in California and South Carolina shows that it is almost impossible to get away from the police. It makes one wonder why people even try to flee when all it does is cause them more problems than if they would have just yielded to police at the beginning of the traffic stop.
Never flee from the police — especially in South Carolina where dash board videos show police cars slamming into chase subjects during pursuits.
Note to people who think they can flee — there’s no way to get away when the police have radio and helicopters. And, there’s a good chance someone will get hurt during or after the chase.

On that same note, don’t try to run a police officer over — they will shoot at you. Then on top of it, don’t claim police brutality when they pull you out of the car and make you eat gravel after trying to run them over….
Hi Dan,
Always great advice.
[...] Christopher Hedges had a post recently questioning why people run from the cops. Well, I’d imagine it’s for a variety of reasons. If you watch Spike TV at all, you’ve probably seen quite a few police chases that always seem to end with the driver of runaway vehicle eating gravel. And of course, there’s a commentator, whether it’s from a police helicopter or a guy for Spike TV calling that driver dangerous, erratic, stupid, drugged, careless, and a million other things. Quite frankly, I think these commentators are the ones who are criminally retarded, often times making the biggest deal about the drivers speeding through stop signs and red lights. I mean, seriously… they’re running from the cops and you expect them to just stop and wait for the light to turn green? Why don’t they slow down for yellow lights while they’re at it? (Sarcasm!) If you had to pick your child up from a police officer after they were caught running from the police after watching a fight, would they be grounded for at least a week? Please help me settle this. I hate my business all over but I’m getting tired of this argument. – Please post your age and if you are a parent too.
The grounding more pertains to the running from the police part and the parent being subsequently lectured by a police officer.
We have had the discussion that it is wrong to run from the police and that the reason she is grounded is because she ran from the police.

If you’ve ever been on a real college or NFL outdoor field, you’d know what this means. Football fields for outdoor stadiums are shaped like a hill in the center. This is so rain can easily drain from the field. You can’t see this topography from a TV view, but if you stood on one sideline and looked across the field to the other sideline, you’d only see people’s chests and heads.
