How does Supreme Court justice Hillary Clinton sound?
James Andrew Miller writes in the Washington Post that Barack Obama should select Hillary Clinton to be a Supreme Court justice, if he is elected in November.
But there is another way to foster party unity without forcing a political marriage.
It’s likely that the next president will face at least one Supreme Court vacancy. Obama should promise Hillary Clinton, now, that if he wins in November, the vacancy will be hers, making her first on a list of one.
Paying off Hillary Clinton for getting out of the way could put her into a position of power over American life for decades to come.
Personally, I don’t see Barack Obama nominating Hillary Clinton to the Supreme Court just to get her to stop her tireless campaign.
But, this has been a never-say-never year where anything can happen.

Chris,
That’s just sick. I’ll never get to sleep now. Damn I’m just gonna have to start drinking.
Hi Aaron,
I started laughing as soon as I read your comment.
I’m wondering if the very idea gets John McCain some conservative votes from people who might have been tempted to sit out this year’s election because of their feeling that McCain isn’t ideologically pure enough.
It’s a great way to remind people of the importance of the Supreme Court.
Even if Hillary Clinton isn’t a nominee, Obama has promised to pick justices in the model of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and David Souter (a liberal who was appointed by Bush 41.)
Here’s a link to speculation on who might be picked by the Democrats if they win in 2008.
Dang! I’m shaking in my boots! That’s a scary thought…

My comment got nuked… again.
Hi Dan,
I’ll go dig it out of Akismet.
Hi Dan,
I put NWIconnect into the blogroll today! I found another one of your comments that was caught by Akismet and rescued it. Akismet does a good job of handling spam, but sometimes innocent comments get caught in its web. I think it is very leery of any links with which it isn’t familiar.
