David Achuleta is singing “Stand By Me.”

Video: David Archuleta sings Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me.”

I predict David Archuleta makes it through to the Top 3.

The crowd goes wild for David Archuleta.

I missed Randy’s and Paula’s reviews of David Archuleta’s performance because my older and young son started play wrestling right in front of me and the little one is yelling. But, I assume the gave good reviews of David Archuleta’s singing.

Simon says David Archuleta could have whistled the song and he would have done well — good song selection and positioning. Simon says David Archuleta has the best performance of the night so far.

In the final “playback” of everyone’s performances tonight, David’s playback was a different performance than his first one. It is a mistake! There was another performance of “Love Me Tender” that they must’ve re-taped for some reason. Again, the “re-cap” at the end of the show, showed David Archuleta singing the end of “Love Me Tender” with different notes, different articulation…IT WAS A DIFFERENT EDIT! WHAT IS AMERICAN IDOL DOING? ISN’T IT A LIVE SHOW? WHAT’S WITH THE EDITING?

I’m glad someone else noticed that. Questioned my own mind…thought I was losing it!

No matter, I see that David Cook seems to be the most popular idol but David Archuleta is the most talented vocalist. Actually, his voice is the instrument, whereas, the others have had to rely on contrived musical instruments to back up their performances.

The very first time I heard David (at audition) I was hooked and had to follow the season, for the first time. Past seasons were okay and I would tune in, occasionally. LOVING this one except last night. I actually cringed through the mediocre performances of the other 3.

Syesha is not equipped to perform soulful music and her voice is not strong enough for opera. I agree with Randy…she could be big with show tunes. David Cook has been and will continue being a good rock artist, although, if he wanted to develop his voice, more opportunities would open up for him. Jason is nice to watch and listen to if he’s doing folk music. However, I’ll say it again, David Archuleta possesses the natural vocal instrument.

The replays we see at the end of the night are probably made the night before during dress rehearsals. That’s to give the editing crew the best chance possible to produce the most professional wrap they can at the end of the show.

Surely, you don’t expect them to still be doing edits of the last 2 singers with 12 or less minutes to go. Use your head.

And anyway all that goes to show is that Archulea, who sings always and only from the heart, is constantly looking to refine his performances — something every other singer has just as much right to do. The fact he sung the tune somewhat differently during dress rehearsal and last night is more inventive crap from you people who cannot enjoy life or anything in it unless it abounds with conspiracies.

      Get a life.
