Google wants to give away free wireless internet to Americans in exchange for letting them view their ads.

Video: Google Wants To Turn Unused TV Spectrum Into Wireless Internet

Sign me up. If Google wants to provide free internet service in exchange for advertising, it sounds like a good plan to me!

I’m with you Chris, bring on the free services in return for watching or listening to advertising. Isn’t it interesting that television may well go full circle?

In the beginning, TV was free
Then we had to pay for cable
I bet it will be free again, maybe even the TV itself, in return for watching and responding to ads

Hey came across another NWI blogger http://prayermedic.com who seems pretty prolific and interesting. You might contact and throw up links, he linked to my http://nwiblogs.blogspot.com pretty quick.

      Hi Steve,

Dan came by earlier this weekend on my Midwest earthquake post.

I’ll put his link up in the blogroll so I can keep up with what he’s posting. Thanks for the suggestion!

And I’d have no problem linking to your site Chris. I’ll add you to my blogroll. This is really interesting! Can you imagine the implications of free wireless internet access? You might be walking by a storefront with your new iGoogle phone and the TV Ad starts playing an ad for your favorite restaurant, and your favorite meal happens to be displayed in the image — oh and by the way, the restaurant is right around the corner. It would be a whole new world… .

      Hi Dan,

That’s the beauty of Google’s plan. It will create a network that will be perfect to distribute their ads. People will use it because it is free. Businesses will buy ads because that’s where the people are. And, Google (and its publishers) will get rich or try. :)
