I love the images Maureen Dowd presents in her latest opinion piece about Hillary Clinton’s supporters offering her up as Barack Obama’s vice president.
While the cool cat’s away, the Hillary mice will play.
As Barack Obama was floating in the pool with his daughters the last few days in St. Thomas, some Clinton disciples were floating the idea of St. Hillary as his vice president.
She can’t win without him, said one Hillary adviser, and he can’t win without her.
They’re stuck with each other.
Will Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton be able to put aside their differences and join forces?
Or, will it continue to be chaos, fighting, and fevered battles for delegates all the way up to the convention in Denver?

There’s simply no way he can take her as his VP. It’s impossible. He’s built his campaign on integrity, she has none. There are plenty of other potentials out there that would make a great VP AND give Obama the push needed to win. John Edwards for example. He doesn’t need to stoop to her as VP to win. So of course Hillary’s supporters want her as VP, it’s a win-win for her, a lose-lose for Obama.
Hi Sphynx,
You are right that it would be a lose-lose for Obama, especially since polls show that a lot of his supporters would defect if Obama doesn’t get the nomination if he wins the Democratic party’s nomination.
IMO Obama is not worthy to be vice president let alone president. There is no way Hillary would ever be his VP either. IMO Barack is making lots of false promises to get his endorsements. I personally do not believe either candidate is thinking about putting the other on the ballot should they win. But I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone could choose Barack over Hillary. Scary!
Sphynx,
I noticed how you said Obama built his campaign on integrity. How is that? There are many things wrong with Obama. He is cocky, arrogant, and sneaky. He also is a member of a church that is racist and unpatriotic. Some have argued you can’t hold what his pastor has said against him. But I disagree. This pastor was not only the head of this church for the last twenty years that Barack has attended, has baptized his two daughters, and married him and his wife. Not to mention he was so inspired by this man, that he wrote a book. I’m sorry but that right there says it all. I can assure you, if he wins things are going to get ugly. We are in a very critical time. Our country is messed up; our economy is on the down spiral. We can’t afford to take a gamble. Hillary is experienced; there are no skeletons in her closet. With her, we know what we will get. I just hope and pray that people wake up before it is too late. “Hillary Clinton for President 2008!”
Hi Magz,
Thanks for stopping by and joining the conversation.
It should be an interesting spring and summer.
If you watch the video clip of Obama taking questions in Oregon you will see that this is exaclty what he plans to happen. When asked if he would invite her to be his running mate he had great things to say about her. He stated that he would not speculate at this point since they are still activly running but she would be on anyones short list for vp. Personally this would be a dream come true for me.
Hi Tanya,
It would make sense to try to have both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama end up on the same team. However, I wonder if the concession for Hillary will end up being some other position — maybe Secretary of State?
The only thing Barack needs from Hillary is her votes. To have them together would send thousands of Democrats away from the polls…hmmm, ok having them on the same ticket is an excellent idea!!!!! As you can tell I’m not a big fan.
