While Illinois’ officials gather support and money to build the Illiana Expressway, Indiana’s anti-growth forces might have killed Indiana’s chances to build the brand new highway anytime soon, reports the Post-Tribune’ Teresa Auch.

Oh man, that drives me crazy. The no-growth leaders have really messed up Northwest Indiana. Basically a couple farmers in the south county and a bunch of really foolish north county leaders are holding us all hostage.

It is sad. Illinois wants to build their side, but they’ll have wait until Indiana can get everyone to agree that we need to do something before Route 2 ends up congested like US 30.
The Illiana Expressway will end up being built sooner or later in some form because it will be needed.
