The news about the death of Stephanie Kuleba — the 18-year-old straight A student who was captain of her school’s cheerleaders and who planned a pre-med course of studies at the University of Florida — during cosmetic surgery reminds us that all surgeries and medical procedures are potentially dangerous and even life threatening. Anytime anesthesia is in use, there is always the potential that something could go wrong.

It reminds us that no matter how much we try to reduce the risks we face during life and the various activities we undertake, there is always a chance that the odds could go against us.

My prayers are with Stephanie Kuleba’s family and friends.

I was very sad to hear about this, it seems many people just don’t asses the risks of plastic surgery enough

      Hi John,

Any kind of medical procedure carries with it some sort of risk. It’s easy to forget that in these days when everything is always packaged in such a way that it seems to be 100% safe and proven.

While we’re able to reduce risks significantly as a society — we’re probably safer now at any other time in history — any time someone undergoes any type of procedure, there’s a chance that something could happen.
