David Cook talks about life as a drink slinger, then launches into his rendition of the Beatles’ “Eleanor Rigby.”

I like it — it’s a 90s alt-rock version of the classic Beatles song.

David Cook is going to do well because he took a risk with the arrangement and it paid off — you go dawg! The crowd goes wild.

Randy: “You can rock out on Idol. … Dude once you hit the chorus, it was rocking.”

Paula: “I’ve been telling everyone you are the dark horse. And, you are a thoroughbred. … You are a front man on American Idol.”

Simon: “I thought it was brilliant.” “If this show remains a talent competition, rather than a popularity contest, you can win the entire show.”

Ryan tells Simon “You’re on your game tonight.”

This Crazy Life sums up David Cook’s performance tonight:

A modern rock version of Eleanor Rigby. I don’t like it. His timing’s off. But now it’s getting better. He reaches the big chorus, and does it big, and I kinda like it. To be honest, I thought I would hate it, because the original is so good. And I didn’t, so I guess that says something.

I thought it was absolutely fantastic and I’ve downloaded it off of itunes and listen to it almost everyday. He should win American Idol because he is undoubtedly the best and the most talented, authentic and original musician on the show.

    Hi Karen,

David Cook might be the one to give David Archuleta a run for the money — especially since he’s doing a great job with everything he has sung on American Idol.
