Lincoln County For Lower Taxes?
Filed Under Cook County, Cook County taxes
High taxes (or the prospect thereof) have you wishing there was something you could do?
Some cities have expressed desires to break free from high tax districts.
Griffith, Indiana wants to leave Calumet Township because it is a donor city.
Palatine, Illinois hopes to become a part of Lake County, Illinois.
And, now there’s talk of forming a new Illinois county — Lincoln County.
Eric Zorn posts about how Cook County’s residents could break away — it would require a majority of resident signatures.
Of course, the easy way to break free from Cook County’s high taxes is to vote with your feet — Northwest Indiana isn’t too far away.

It is hard to believe, but Crook County is worse than NWI in terms of patronage and corruption.
Oh well. Lansing’s loss is Munster’s gain.
I think you will start seeing more of these movements as donor cities get tired of paying all of their money out to other jurisdictions with little obtained in return.
Griffith has started the trend right in NWI.
