Obama - Bayh 2008?
Filed Under Barack Obama, Election 2008, Evan Bayh
Could a Barack Obama — Evan Bayh ticket work in 2008?
Opines Sylvia A. Smith in “Bayh Still In The Running To be Running mate“:
Obama will have to fill out the ticket with someone older because there is no other national political figure younger than Obama. But if his veep choice is too old, it will detract from Obama’s image as the agent for change. Bayh is 55 (Obama is 46) but comes off as boyish rather than middle-aged – young kids, no paunch, no gray.
Political pundits who have studied this business in far more depth than I say Bayh would help any Democratic ticket in Ohio, a key swing state. They say that because Bayh’s Senate and gubernatorial campaigns have aired ads in Hoosier TV markets that also reach Ohio voters, he is recognized there and liked.
I’m of the school that a vice presidential candidate can possibly influence the outcome in his or her own state (though that’s not so likely in red Indiana) but beyond that can only hurt – not help – the ticket.
But if Obama is of the first view – that a running mate could tweak the outcome in a state or region – Bayh scores as well as anyone else in this geography test.

That would be my dream ticket, almost. I want Bayh as President, Obama as VP.
But I don’t think Bayh would accept being Obama’s VP. He’s a Clinton supporter, through and through.
My degree in political science in 1974 helped move me 3 slots up in the unemployment line; however, even here in California we know about Evan Bayh as a centrist and his appeal throughout the midwest would be very helpful to Obama. The fact that he endorsed Hillary in the primary woudln’t stop him. Obama-Bayh works well, as
does Obama-Nunn, Obama-Bob Graham, Obama-Jim Webb, Obama-Wes Clark.

Obama should ask Senator. Evan Bayh to be his running mate. Senator Bayh is a former Indiana Governor, and is a well liked and experienced moderate Democrat that can only help the ticket. At age 52 he is young enough after 8 years of Obama to run for President. I think at this point an Obama Bayh ticket is the dream ticket!
I hope he chooses Evan Bayh too.
The loss, when they lose to McCain, will hurt Bayh like Edwards was hurt in 2004 and hopefully we’ll end up with the end of Bayh as our Senator soon.
Evan Bayh is no great man, he treats his wife terrible, I’ve been in his presence when he’s yelled explitives at her. He’s a poor leader and accomplished very little in Indiana or in Washington for us.
