Sen. Landske Helps Lake Co. Income Tax Proponents

John Byrne reports from the statehouse in his blog that Sen. Sue Landske has added an amendment to Senate Bill 20 that provides for three ways to distribute funds from a proposed Lake County income tax.

Under Sen. Sue Landske’s amendment to Senate Bill 20, Lake County will have the option to distribute money raised through an income tax in three ways: to keep the money in the municipality where it is raised, to apply all funds to the county property tax levy, or to distribute 60 percent of funds where they are raised and the other 40 percent based on municipalities’ populations.

    Chris, do you live in Landske’s district?

    If so, you should go down to Indy with me next week and apply for the Republican Primary against her.

    Why is she carrying water for the North County Democrat machine?

    Hi Buzz,

    I live in the district, but I’d never want to run for office.

    When I was younger and a Democrat, I remembered loving to volunteer with making phone calls and doing internships, but even then, I knew that being the “face” wasn’t for me. I love the policy debates and questions, but wouldn’t want to spend all of my time doing all of the things needed to be a good pol.

    I’d be a better professor than a politician.

    Plus, I’d rather spend my time with my wife and kids.

    You ask a great question about why is she acting in the interests of the North. (There is no way that the northern cities aren’t going to get their cut of the money).

    I wonder what deals have been made?

    I’m in the same boat as you. Policy geek with young children.

    I don’t think that we need to do much campaigning to throw out these incumbants. We just need people to RUN. You can’t beat these guys if they don’t have any opposition.

    Come on, dude. Legislator is a part time position. ;)

    Part-time is always an advantage. And, they get special license plates. :)
