Democrats Are The Party Of The Rich?

Despite the talk about soaking the rich, statistics show that a surprising number of rich people vote for Democrats who are willing to serve their wealthy constituents.
SchansBlog has an interesting post about how statistics show that the Democratic Party has become the party of the rich.
Democrats leading the charge to get rid of the AMT is one example of where the Democratic Party is providing constituent service to the wealthiest Americans.
Other stats show that some of the wealthiest areas of the country routinely elect Democrats. The wealthy aren’t voting for people who would harm them or go against their financial interests.
That explains why so many wealthy people support a party that always says wants to make the rich pay their fair share.
It must be the “triangulation” and “I’m in favor of that which I am against” double position that always seems to trip up so many candidates. The rich know that class warfare talk is cheap and might be necessary to attract some middle class and lower income voters, but when it comes down to do what is in the interests of their wealthiest supporters their Democratic representatives are fully in support of the wealthy. It wouldn’t be in the upper class’ best interests to continue to vote in people who were planning to do them harm.
There’s nothing wrong with serving the rich and aspiring to be the party that caters to the most powerful in society. It does seem hypocritical to “be for and against” the wealthy by saying one thing, then voting to fully support the rich with legislation and earmarks.
Maybe it is time to can the anti-rich rhetoric since the wealthy are usually the folks who run corporations and small businesses that provide most of the jobs for Americans.

There’s nothing worse than a wealthy liberal who leads a lifestyle of lavish conspicuous consumption, but who would support efforts to deny others the right to improve their social situation by supporting oppressive taxes on the middle class.
