Progressives: Lake Council Betrayed Trust
Filed Under Lake County Council, Will Smith Jr | Leave a Comment
Bob Mattson at the South Shore Progressive writes that the Lake County Council has betrayed voters’ trust by failing to remove convicted councilman Will Smith, Jr.
Since Mr. Smith refuses to do the right thing and resign, the County Council needs to censure him. Since they have refused to do so, they have also betrayed the public trust. In my mind, they are no better than Mr. Smith and do not deserve to sit on the County Council. And they wonder why Lake County has such a bad reputation in state government.

Dubai & the Dubai Burj al Arab

The Dubai Burj al Arab
I don’t know why Dubai and the Dubai Burj al Arab are so fascinating to me.
It could be because Dubai seems to be billed as the Las Vegas of the Middle East with all of its luxury buildings, grand building plans, and full-on embrace of business and capitalism.
It’s a contrast to all of the images and news that always dominates Middle Eastern news coverage.
It’s good to see a ray of light in a part of the world that sometimes seems mired in never ending violence and conflict.
